Ross Valley Sanitary District (RVSD) works to operate, maintain, replace and/or rehabilitate approximately 200 miles of gravity sewer lines to reduce the risk of sanitary sewer overflows in the communities it serves. We operate and maintain 19 pumping stations that collect, pump and transport approximately 4 million gallons of wastewater per day to the Central Marin Sanitation Agency treatment plant. The agency also works to update and rehabilitate existing wastewater pump stations by upgrading the pumps, motors, piping, valves, odor control systems, electrical systems and backup power generators to maintain safety, efficiency and reliability.
Parts of this system are over 100 years old (RVSD was established in 1899), and the District is constantly working with cooperation from public and local agencies to meet the critical challenges of maintaining and modernizing infrastructure that is crucial for protecting public health and the environment.
RVSD is offering three (3) scholarships of $1,000 each to 2020 high school graduates to help support their post-high school education. Participants must live within the RVSD service area (Fairfax, Greenbrae, Kentfield, Larkspur, Ross, San Anselmo, Sleepy Hollow), be a member of the 2020 senior class, and maintain a GPA of 3.0 or higher to participate.
