A 60-day time extension for obtaining a Certificate of Compliance is available when you are buying or selling a property.
If you cannot obtain a Certificate of Compliance for your PSL before transferring title, you may apply for a Time Extension, which will allow for an additional 60 days beyond the close of escrow for the PSL work to be completed. It is expected that, at minimum, a permit for the PSL work will have been issued and paid for prior to the Time Extension. The request for a Time Extension is submitted to the District Engineer or General Manager for approval.
Step 1. Contact the District to request a Time Extension
Contact the District by phone at (415)259-2949 or by e-mail to request a Time Extension. Please be sure to include the following information:
- Name and contact information
- Property address
- Mailing address (if different)
- Parcel number (if available)
- Reason for request
- Proof of District-issued permit
Once approval of the Time Extension is granted, it will be confirmed in writing to the requester at the mailing address provided in the original request.
Step 2. Follow-up is required!
The property must obtain a Certificate of Compliance within the 60 days. During the 60-day Time Extension period, the responsible party, as negotiated between the buyer and seller, shall complete the requirements to obtain a Certificate of Compliance by repairing or replacing the PSL as necessary.
